How to use
- Enter the power consumption (W) from the air conditioner or heater nameplate. The default is 1800.
- Enter hours of use per day. The default of 8 hours is not a 24-hour setting.
- Enter days of use per month. The default is 30 days.
- Adjust the rate (KRW/kWh) using your bill or KEPCO (Korea Electric Power) tiers. The default of 200 KRW is a placeholder for a mid-range 2026 residential rate.
- Press Calculate to see monthly usage (kWh) and the estimated electricity cost. Base fees, fuel-cost adjustments, and VAT are not included.
Key concepts
Monthly kWh = watts ÷ 1000 × hours per day × days per month. This page multiplies that usage by a single rate. Residential low-voltage service in Korea uses progressive tiers 1–3 plus a base fee, climate/environment charge, and VAT, so the bill can be higher. Inverter ACs often draw fewer watts than the nameplate depending on the setpoint and outdoor temperature. Older fixed-speed units stay closer to the nameplate while they are on. This estimate assumes you ran the nameplate wattage for that many hours. Results are for reference and may differ from a KEPCO bill. If you know a lower average (standby or dehumidify), enter that as power. For months you only used the unit part of the time, reduce the days.
Example
At 1800W, 8 hours/day, 30 days, and 200 KRW, monthly usage is 1.8×8×30=432 kWh and the estimate is 86,400 KRW. Cut hours to 4 and you get 216 kWh · 43,200 KRW. Drop the rate to 150 KRW and the same 432 kWh costs 64,800 KRW. Use your own nameplate and actual on-time. In summer, 6 hours/day for 25 days is 1.8×6×25=270 kWh, or 54,000 KRW at 200 KRW. Swap in a 900W heater for the same hours and usage halves, which makes comparison easy.

Frequently asked questions
Does this AC/heater estimate apply KEPCO progressive rates automatically?
No. It is a single rate × usage. For the full progressive bill, use the electricity bill calculator. This page is for gauging one cooling or heating unit.
Is power consumption the same as cooling capacity (pyeong)?
No. Enter the nameplate input power in W. Do not confuse it with room size (pyeong) or cooling capacity in kW. The power field is in watts.
Does an inverter always draw a constant wattage?
No. This screen uses the watts you enter as-is. If average draw is lower, enter that number. When the mode changes (dehumidify, low fan), change the watts and calculate again.
Are the base fee and VAT included?
No. Fuel-cost adjustment and the climate/environment charge are also omitted. To match a full bill, use the electricity bill calculator as well.
Can I calculate a heater and an air conditioner together?
Calculate each device separately and add the results. The form does not add two units in one field. If the nameplate watts differ, entering them separately is more accurate.
Are usage hours saved on the server?
No. kWh and cost are multiplied only in the browser. Hours and rates never leave this tab.
