Caffeine intake

Enter values, then press Calculate.

How to use

  1. Enter americano (cups) and mg per cup. Defaults are 1 cup · 95 mg.
  2. Fill tea (cups) · mg per cup (default 40) and energy drink (cans) · mg per can (default 80) if needed.
  3. Press Total for total caffeine mg. Hints include adult and pregnancy reference upper limits.
  4. There is no field for chocolate or medicine; raise mg per cup or combine into another drink field.
  5. If the product label has mg, replace the defaults with that number. This is not medical advice.

Key concepts

This caffeine-intake calculator estimates daily caffeine, coffee cups, and pregnancy caffeine limits. Total = each drink count × mg per cup (or can). A common adult reference upper limit is about 400 mg; many pregnancy guides mention around 200 mg, but a clinician’s instructions come first. Add americano, tea, and energy-drink servings and mg to see a daily total. Adult ~400 mg and pregnancy-guide ~200 mg are shown as hints.

By brand and brew time, one americano often ranges 70–150 mg. This is not medical advice. Totals run only in the browser. Brand, shot count, and leftover caffeine in decaf vary a lot. During pregnancy, clinician instructions come first. If the label has mg, change the defaults 95 · 40 · 80.

Example

2 americanos × 95 mg = 190 mg. Add one 80 mg energy drink for 270 mg. 2 teas × 40 mg only = 80 mg. Versus the pregnancy reference 200 mg, 2 americanos are near the border. If the label is 120 mg, set mg per cup to 120. 3 americanos × 95 = 285 mg plus 1 tea 40 mg = 325 mg. If the label is 150 mg, set per-cup to 150. 2 energy drinks × 80 = 160 mg plus 1 americano 95 mg = 255 mg.

Frequently asked questions

What are the default mg values in the caffeine calculator?

Defaults are about coffee 95, tea 40, energy 80. If a label exists, use that value. Those defaults are approximations.

Is the pregnancy caffeine limit 200 mg?

Many guides mention around 200 mg, but follow clinician instructions. This tool is not a diagnosis or a personal prescription.

Is the caffeine total sent to a server?

No. Addition runs only in the browser. The total is local.

Can I include chocolate caffeine?

There is no dedicated field. Add it into another item’s mg per serving.

Is the caffeine calculator for medical use?

No. It is for reference, not diagnosis or treatment.

Should decaf americano be entered as 0?

Residual caffeine can remain. Use the label mg; if unknown, assume a small amount for comparison only.
