How to use
- Choose direction: English keys → Hangul jamo, or Hangul jamo → English keys.
- Paste the mistyped string. Examples:
gkdl, orㅗ디ㅐㅕㅓ. - Press Convert. Mapping is 1:1 on a 2-beolsik (두벌식) QWERTY layout.
- Copy the result, or Reset to try again.
- To turn finished syllables back into English keys, decompose to jamo first.
Key concepts
Hangul/English keyboard converter fixes text typed with the wrong IME mode. In English mode, intending Hangul, gkdl is ㅎㅏㅇㅣ on 2-beolsik. The reverse restores English passwords typed as Hangul jamo. Shift positions ㅃ·ㅉ·ㄸ·ㄲ·ㅆ·ㅒ·ㅖ (uppercase keys) are in the table. Mobile Cheonjiin (천지인) and 3-beolsik (세벌식) layouts are different and are not supported.
This tool does not run Hangul automata: jamo are listed side by side and are not composed into syllables. Unmapped spaces, punctuation, and digits are left as-is. Processing is local. To compose jamo into syllables, use Hangul compose mode next.
Example
English keys → Hangul jamo: gkdl → ㅎㅏㅇㅣ. dkssud (trying to type 안녕 in English mode) is close to ㅇㅏㄴㄴㅕㅇ. Hangul jamo → English keys: ㅗ디ㅐㅕㅓ restores the English key sequence. A finished syllable such as 안녕 is not key-sized, so the reverse may not match what you expect. dkssudgktpdy → the jamo sequence for 안녕하세요. Uppercase Q is near ㅃ.

Frequently asked questions
Do finished Hangul syllables convert?
Mapping is jamo-by-jamo. For syllable → English, decompose first. A composed word like 안녕 is not a key unit, so English restore can look wrong.
Are tensed consonants ㅃㅉㄸㄲㅆ converted?
Yes—uppercase key positions (ㅃ, ㅉ, ㄸ, ㄲ, ㅆ, ㅒ, ㅖ). Tensed consonants are Shift keys. Lowercase-only input becomes plain consonants.
Does it fix 3-beolsik typos?
No. The table is 2-beolsik QWERTY only. 3-beolsik users should not rely on this map.
Is typed text sent to a server?
No. Processing is local. Even password hints you paste do not leave the device.
What about spaces, digits, and symbols?
Unmapped characters stay as they are, including ? and . when they are not in the table.
Why don’t jamo join into syllables after convert?
There is no automata composition—only key positions change. Use Hangul compose mode to turn jamo into syllables.
