Solar ↔ lunar
Enter values, then press Calculate.
※ For Korean lunar holidays. Dates may differ by region or midnight cutoff. Converts 1900–2100 only.
How to use
- To see a solar date as lunar, pick a date in the Solar field and click To lunar. The range is from 31 January 1900 through 2100.
- To see a lunar date as solar, enter lunar year, month, day, check Leap month if it is a leap month, then click To solar.
- The result shows solar, lunar, leap-month or not, and the sexagenary year pillar. The year pillar is an approximation based on the lunar year.
- A leap month that does not exist or a date outside the range is not converted and a message appears.
- You can clear the fields with Reset. Festival and memorial dates can differ by a day at midnight or regional boundaries.
Key concepts
Korean holidays such as Seollal and Chuseok use the lunar calendar. This converter switches solar ↔ lunar with the 1900–2100 Korean lunar table (including leap months). Seollal in 2026 is 17 February solar, lunar 1 January. A leap month is the same month inserted once more in that year, so the same month and day can map to a different solar date depending on the leap-month check.
Manse (saju) programs often also look at true solar time and solar-term ingress. This screen is date-unit conversion and does not include double-hours or solar terms. Time-zone midnight boundaries and local custom can be off by a day. For a son-less-day list see the son-less day calculator; for a day-stem approximation see the saju calculator. Whether a lunar month has 30 days (big month) or 29 (small month) depends on the table, so if an end-of-month date is rejected, reduce the day and convert again. For Korean holiday reference.
Example
Convert solar 2026-02-17 to lunar and you get lunar 2026-01-01 (Seollal) and that year’s year-pillar sexagenary pair. Conversely, lunar year 2026, month 1, day 1 with leap month off and To solar yields 2026-02-17. Turning on a leap month that year does not have fails conversion. When moving a memorial date, compare once more with the family calendar. For Chuseok-style lunar 8/15, leave leap month off and click To solar to confirm that year’s solar date. The sexagenary year pillar is based on the lunar year, so a solar date just before Seollal can look like a different year.

Frequently asked questions
What year range does solar–lunar conversion cover?
From 31 January 1900 through 31 December 2100. Outside that is not converted. The solar field’s minimum is the same start date.
When is Seollal in 2026?
On this table it is 17 February 2026 solar (lunar 1 January). Click To lunar to see the Seollal date and the year-pillar sexagenary pair together.
Do I always have to check leap month?
Turn it on only when converting a leap-month date. Treating an ordinary month as a leap month means that year has no leap month or the date changes. A leap month that does not exist fails conversion.
Are son-less days shown too?
Not on this screen. See the monthly list on the son-less day calculator.
Is it the same as a saju manse calendar?
It is date conversion. For hour pillar, true solar time, and solar-term ingress, use the saju calculator approximation; it can differ from a professional manse calendar.
Is the converted date saved?
It is not saved. Calculation runs only in this browser tab.
