Key concepts: mileage value
An award ticket is not “free” so much as paying with miles instead of cash. Value per mile = cash airfare ÷ miles required. In peak season and on weekends, miles deducted rise, so the same route is worth less. If seats are not released, the value calculation itself is meaningless.
Decide and stick to whether you include fuel surcharge, airport tax, and ticketing fees in the cash price, or compare miles deducted only. This page only divides the two numbers you entered. Partner conversion rates and expiry are not applied.
Example
Cash 300,000 KRW and 30,000 miles required → 1 mile = 10 KRW. With 35,000 miles on hand it shows as usable. If peak season raises required miles to 40,000, 1 mile = 7.5 KRW. If the cash price is discounted, mile value falls further and paying cash can be better.

The formula is the same. It only needs a cash-equivalent price and miles required to match.
Does value still appear when there is no seat?
The number appears. In practice it only matters if a seat exists.
