Currency converter (For reference)
Enter values, then press Calculate.
The rate is the value you enter, not a live quote. For 2026 reference only.
How to use
- Enter the number to convert in Amount. The default is 100.
- In Rate (1 foreign unit = KRW), enter a mid-market figure you want to use today. The default 1380 is a 2026 USD–KRW placeholder, not an official quote.
- Choose direction: Foreign → KRW or KRW → foreign.
- In Currency name, type a display symbol such as USD, EUR, or JPY. It is not used in the formula.
- Press Calculate to see converted amount, applied rate, and direction. Reset restores 100, 1380, USD, and Foreign → KRW.
Key concepts
This currency converter does not call a bank or card-issuer API. The rate on screen is the number you typed; live mid-market, telegraphic buy, and sell rates are not fetched. Foreign → KRW is amount × rate; KRW → foreign is amount ÷ rate. FX fees, spreads, and weekend promotions are not included.
When you actually buy dollars or yen, the buy rate is higher than mid-market and the sell rate is lower. Overseas card payments often add a fee on top of the telegraphic rate. For a travel or remittance ballpark, copy a figure from the Bank of Korea or your bank app into the rate field, and if you have a preferential rate, enter that number separately to compare. Results are for 2026 reference. Preferential margins at exchange desks vary by weekday and customer tier, so one field cannot lock in a discounted amount. For a remittance estimate, pasting the bank app’s applied rate is safer.
Example
Amount 100, rate 1380, currency name USD, Foreign → KRW yields 138,000 KRW. At the same rate, switch to KRW → foreign and set amount to 138000 to get 100 USD. For yen, an approximation like 1 JPY = 9 KRW only changes the label when you set the name to JPY. Always match a real quote. Reset returns amount 100, rate 1380, Foreign → KRW, and the default currency name. Alternating the buy rate before departure and the sell rate after return gives a rough sense of round-trip FX loss.

Frequently asked questions
Does today’s official FX rate load automatically?
No. There is no live API; it only multiplies or divides the rate you enter. Copy a figure from the Bank of Korea or your bank app into the rate field.
Are fees included in USD–KRW conversion?
No. Bank preferential rates and card foreign-transaction fees are on you. If you have an applied rate after a discount, entering that value is closer to practice.
Do I enter buy and sell rates at the same time?
There is one field. Calculate twice, swapping the buy and sell numbers. Comparing the two results shows the spread roughly.
Is the currency name used in the math?
It is for display only. Changing USD to EUR without changing the rate leaves the result the same.
Can I use 100-yen quotes like some JPY boards?
This screen only accepts 1 foreign unit = KRW. If the quote is per 100 yen, divide by 100 and enter 1 yen = KRW.
Is the rate I entered stored on a server?
No. Multiplication and division run only in the browser.
