Enter values, then press Calculate.

How to use

 1. Enter gross monthly salary. The default on screen is 3,000,000 KRW.
 2. Enter tax-free meal allowance (monthly). The default is 200,000 KRW; use 0 if you have none.
 3. Press Calculate to see estimated monthly take-home, the four major social insurances (Korea, monthly), income tax + local tax (monthly), and annual take-home total.
 4. If bonuses are mixed into an annual contract figure, use annual take-home pay instead of this screen.
 5. Reset restores 3,000,000 KRW salary and 200,000 KRW meal allowance. Calculation stays in this browser.

Key concepts: monthly take-home and 2026 rates

Monthly take-home is an estimate of what lands in your account after employee four-insurance contributions and income tax plus local income tax. This tool’s 2026 employee-rate approximation is National Pension 4.75%, Health Insurance 3.595%, long-term care 13.14% of the health-insurance premium, and Employment Insurance 0.9%. Tax-free meal allowance is subtracted from taxable monthly pay first; premiums are then multiplied on that taxable amount. The four insurances are shown as one monthly total.

Tax is estimated by treating monthly pay × 12 as an annual amount, applying progressive brackets, converting back to a monthly figure, and subtracting a fixed-deduction approximation (130,000 KRW). Local tax is 10% of that. Pension, health, and employment insurance are subtracted from taxable pay before the income-tax estimate, so line items may differ from a payslip. This is not the National Tax Service simplified withholding table or the HomeTax withholding program. Dependents, bonuses, retirement pensions, meal-allowance cap checks, and SME employment tax relief are not included. Results are for reference; your payslip and payroll team take priority.

Example

With 3,000,000 KRW gross and 200,000 KRW meal allowance, taxable monthly pay is 2,800,000 KRW. Multiply by the 2026 employee four-insurance rates, then estimate income tax and local tax on the remainder after pension, health, and employment insurance. That yields monthly take-home and an annual total (monthly × 12). Setting meal allowance to 0 increases premiums and tax, so take-home looks smaller. Lowering gross to 2,500,000 KRW can drop the tax line noticeably because the bracket changes. The annual total assumes 12 months with no bonus. Compare with the gross on your payslip.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the National Tax Service simplified withholding table?

No. It is a simplified reference using progressive brackets only. It can differ from withholding notices and year-end settlement refunds or extra tax down to the last KRW. Do not treat this page as an NTS calculator.

How were the 2026 four-insurance rates entered?

As an employee-share approximation: National Pension 4.75%, Health Insurance 3.595%, long-term care 13.14% of the health-insurance premium, and Employment Insurance 0.9%. Employer share, contribution caps, and medical-institution reductions are not on this screen. The approximation can change when the year changes.

Why is tax-free meal allowance subtracted?

To reduce taxable monthly pay so premium and tax estimates line up better. Actual tax-free limits, receipts, and excess amounts follow payroll rules; this field does not validate the cap automatically.

Are bonuses and performance pay included?

Only monthly gross is entered. Mixing a bonus into monthly salary inflates monthly take-home. For annual pay that includes bonuses, use annual take-home pay.

How is the annual take-home total calculated?

It is the monthly take-home estimate multiplied by 12. Holiday bonuses, mid-year join/leave, and unpaid leave are not included. For a partial month, also see the prorated monthly salary calculator.

Is the salary I enter stored on the server?

No. The numbers are calculated only in this device’s browser. No sign-up is required.
