Enter values, then press Calculate.

How to use

  1. Enter total salary. It is an approximation of total salary for employment-income year-end tax settlement (연말정산).
  2. Enter the year’s credit-card spend and debit-card and cash-receipt spend.
  3. Choose number of children (0, 1, or 2+) for the basic-limit add-on.
  4. Press Calculate to compare the 25% threshold, basic limit, deduction from your inputs, and the golden-ratio deduction.
  5. Extra limits for traditional markets, public transit, and books/performances are not in this version.

Key concepts: card income deduction and the golden ratio

In Korea’s employment-income year-end tax settlement, the credit-card spending income deduction (신용카드 등 사용금액 소득공제) applies only to spend above 25% of total salary. On that excess, credit cards are usually multiplied by 15% and debit cards/cash receipts by 30%. There is a basic limit by total-salary band, and a rule that raises the limit if you have children.

This tool assumes the threshold amount is filled from the lower-rate credit card first. “Golden ratio” is a reference that compares, inside the same limit, using credit up to the threshold and debit/cash after it. It is a 2026-attribution approximation and can differ from the National Tax Service program.

Example

If total salary is 50 million KRW, the threshold is 12.5 million KRW. Credit 8 million + debit 4 million = 12 million KRW falls short of the threshold, so the deduction is near 0. Raising spend above the threshold, or shifting post-threshold spend toward debit, changes the deduction. Turning on the child limit raises the cap.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 25% year-end card deduction?

Spend up to 25% of total salary is not deductible. The deduction rate applies only to spend above that amount.

What is the difference between credit-card and debit-card deduction rates?

This screen approximates credit at 15% and debit/cash receipts at 30%. Extra deduction items are not included.

What is the golden ratio?

It is the deduction that assumes you fill the threshold with lower-rate credit cards, then use debit cards and cash receipts after the threshold. It can differ from actual spending.

Are traditional markets, buses, and subways added?

Extra limits are not included. Check those items in the National Tax Service year-end tax simplification.

Is it 100% the same as 2026-attribution tax law?

Limits and rates are approximations. Amendments and special rules follow National Tax Service guidance first.

Is card spend saved?

No. Calculation runs only in the browser.
