How to use

 1. Enter gross annual salary (KRW). Use the annual figure on the contract or offer letter.
 2. If you have a tax-free meal allowance (monthly), enter it; otherwise leave 0.
 3. Press Calculate to see the estimated monthly take-home after the four major social insurances (Korea), income tax, and related deductions.
 4. Check the annual take-home total as well. Use it for a rough sense before a job change or salary negotiation.

Key concepts: gross annual salary and take-home pay

Gross annual salary is the contracted amount before deductions. Take-home pay is closer to what hits your account after the four major social insurances (National Pension, Health Insurance, long-term care, Employment Insurance) plus income tax and local income tax. Budgeting from “annual salary” alone often misses how large those deductions are. Meal, car, and welfare tax-free items, dependent deductions, mid-year leave, and bonuses differ by employer, so results can be off by tens of thousands of KRW versus a payslip.

The screen uses approximate 2026 rates and reference values at simplified-withholding and basic-deduction level. It does not replace NTS year-end settlement or company payroll. Results are for reference.

Example

Try 48,000,000 KRW gross annual salary and 100,000 KRW monthly tax-free meal allowance to ballpark monthly take-home and the share of four insurances and tax. Raising annual salary a little and comparing the take-home increase shows that the gross raise and the extra money in the account are not equal. Treat the company payslip as the accurate figure.

Frequently asked questions

Does the annual take-home calculator match NTS year-end settlement?

No. It is an approximation at simplified-withholding and basic-deduction level. Year-end settlement, extra deductions, and refunds can differ.

Are dependent deductions included?

Not in this version. With more dependents, actual withholding can be lower.

Which year are the four-insurance rates based on?

The approximate 2026 rates shown on screen. Check the review date when rates are revised.

What if there are bonuses or performance pay?

They may be inside the annual salary or paid separately. This tool only splits the gross annual salary you enter evenly across months.

Can freelancers or business-income earners use it?

It is built around employee withholding. Business income has a different structure.

How do I look at loan limits and DSR together?

After estimating monthly take-home, check repayment burden with the loan interest calculator and the income ratio with the DSR calculator.
