Enter values, then press Calculate.

How to use

  1. Enter base hourly wage (KRW). The default example is 10,030 KRW. The premise is an ordinary hourly wage you already calculated.
  2. Enter overtime hours. The default is 10 hours. Enter only hours beyond scheduled work for that week or month.
  3. Under premium options, choose overtime ×1.5, holiday overtime etc. ×2.0, or a custom multiplier. The default is ×1.5.
  4. If a night premium also applies, check add night premium +0.5. When checked, 0.5 is added to the selected multiplier.
  5. Press Calculate to see the applied multiplier, pay per hour, and total premium. Reset restores the sample wage, 10 hours, ×1.5, and night off.

Key concepts

The overtime pay calculator is used to estimate overtime at 1.5×, night premiums, and holiday work pay. Under Korea’s Labor Standards Act, overtime is in principle at least 50% on top of ordinary wages; this screen defaults to ×1.5. Total premium = hourly wage × applied multiplier × hours.

When holiday and night overlap, the multiplier can be higher, so the night checkbox adds +0.5. An inclusive-wage agreement may mean no separate payment. This screen does not compute ordinary wage (including bonuses and allowances). Before calculating overtime, put only hours beyond scheduled work in the hours field. Results are for reference and can differ from the Labor Standards Act or your contract.

Example

Hourly wage 10,030 KRW, 10 hours overtime, ×1.5, night unchecked: applied multiplier ×1.50, 15,045 KRW per hour, total 150,450 KRW. Turning on night +0.5: multiplier ×2.00, 20,060 KRW per hour, total 200,600 KRW. Choosing holiday overtime ×2.0 only with night off yields the same 200,600 KRW by a different multiplier path. Entering 5 overtime hours at ×1.5 totals 75,225 KRW. Pressing Calculate with the on-screen defaults should match the figures above. Changing fields and calculating again uses the same rules. Always put official notices and the contract first for reporting, payment, and agreements. These numbers are for reference.

Frequently asked questions

How does the overtime night premium work?

Choose ×1.5 or ×2.0 (holiday overtime and similar) to match the situation. A custom multiplier is also available. For reference only.

Should I still use the overtime calculator under an inclusive-wage system?

Depending on the agreement, there may be no separate payment. For reference only.

Ordinary-wage calculation is complicated. What then?
